The Uintah Basin Oilers hosted the Utah Cobras on Saturday.  This was the second meeting between the teams, as the Cobras were the victors in Week 3 of the season, 19-12.  However, this meeting would be a complete contrast of the first meeting with the Cobras dominating the performance and the Oilers not able to create points for the entire game.

In the first half of play, the Oilers had all 3-and-outs with the exception of one possession.  They were given their only first down as a result of a Cobras penalty and would finish the first half with less than 25 yards of total offense.

On the other hand, the Cobras scored on every possession with the exception of one.  The only time in which they would not score was on a Ryan Workman interception to former Cobra, Parker Manning.  The Cobras ended the half with roughly 300 yards of total offense, and 35 points to show for their efforts.

The Cobras ran all over the Oilers and finished with 4-first half rushing touchdowns from John Nyondweh (2), Weston Miller (1), and Workman (1).  Workman also connected with his usual target, Illiott Alexander for a 5-yard touchdown.

With a running clock in the second half, John Nyondweh took the opening kickoff 70 yards for his 3rd touchdown of the game.  After a missed extra point, the Cobras were up 41-0.

Each team only got 2 possessions in the second half as a result of the running clock.  Oiler QB Jake Ihde led the Oilers into the Cobras' red zone for the first and only time of the game but was sacked on 4th down to give the Cobras yet another possession.  The Cobras would then proceed in running out the clock.

Utah finished with an estimated 450 yards of total offense, while the Oilers ended with less than 100. Cobras' QB Ryan Workman registered 205 passing yards on 11 pass attempts with a touchdown, and only throwing 5 incompletions all game.  He also racked in 66 rushing yards on 8 carries and a touchdown.  John Nyondweh led the ground attack with 67 yards on 11 carries and 2 touchdowns.  Weston Miller rushed for 42 yards on 5 carries and had a touchdown as well.  Steve Kinyon caught 3 passes for 82 yards, Andy Jones had 3 for 24 yards, and Illiott Alexander caught 2 passes for 35 yards and a touchdown to contribute to the passing game.

Matthew Birrenkott led the Cobras defense in tackles with 4.  Louie Fernandez, Chris Baker, and Colby Eaton each had a sack apiece.

Travis Maxfield was the leader of the Oilers offense that had struggled for the game’s entirety.  He caught 4 of Jake Ihde’s 6 pass completions for 63 yards.  Defensively, the Oilers were led by Jared Ihde with 6.5 tackles.

The Utah Cobras will face the Logan Stampede on Friday night at Viewmont High School in Bountiful, UT and the Uintah Basin Oilers will play on Saturday against the visiting Great Falls Gladiators at the same location, each for the Stars and Stripes Academy.
