The hard part about any RMFL game is traveling with players due to schedules.  The Nevada Warriors made that trip with half of their roster and without some of the playmakers from the week before.  The Uintah Basin Oilers, however, had grown in number since their first week’s game including the return of QB Jake Ihde, who was granted a release from the Cobras to return home.

With the use of a power run game against the depleted Warriors, the Oilers were able to drive down the field before getting intercepted at the goal line by Nevada’s Bobby Bear.  However, when being forced to punt, the ball would sail over the Warrior punter through the endzone as a safety and a 2-0 score.

After another punt the Oilers would once again drive down the field, this time scoring on a QB keeper from the 4-yard line.  A missed PAT would make the score 8-0.  Nevada would struggle to get anything going offensively while the Oilers would have a few good drives killed by penalties in which they racked up 130 yards worth in this game.  With about 2 minutes left in the half, Ihde would find WR Dan Yelenoski for a diving catch at the one and roll in for the score to give the Oilers a 14-0 halftime lead.

The second half would turn into a battle defensively as both teams would trade possessions for most of the third quarter.  It wasn’t until Alex Brown would take a Warrior punt 79 yards to the house and move the score to 21-0 after 3.

With a long trip home the Warriors would attempt to run the clock out, but with about 5 minutes left in the game the Oilers would again find pay dirt on a 53-yard reception by Mike Cook providing the final score of 28-0.

Oiler QB Jake Ihde completed 12 of 21 passes for 196 yards and 2 touchdowns, and also led the ground effort with 76 yards on 10 carries and a touchdown.  Travis Maxfield led the team with 4 catches for 65 yards.  Keenan Harvey also made an impact as the leader in receiving yardage finishing with 3 catches for 67 yards and a touchdown.  Dan Yelenoski and Mike Cook were also Ihde favorites.  Yelenoski caught 3 passes for 39 yards and a touchdown, while Cook registered 2 catches for 62 yards and a touchdown.  Cook would account for a passing touchdown to Harvey from 29 yards out that would help lead the team to victory.

Devin Mackay led the Oiler defense with a whopping 15 tackle performance.  Jared Ihde and Carl Dieckmann also contributed with 9.5 tackles for Ihde and 9 tackles for Dieckmann.  Travis Maxfield would also have a busy day on the defensive side, as he intercepted two passes and had a forced fumble to go with his 3.5 tackles.

The shortage of players for the Warriors left the team with only a few leaders to name on offense and defense.  Bobby Bear, however, would lead on both sides with his 12 carries for 37 yards on offense and 5 tackles and 2 interceptions on defense.  Shane Thomas led the Warrior defense with 9.5 tackles, while Jordan Anderson trailed nearby with 7 tackles.  Anderson was also a contributor to the offensive strategy, as he rushed for 21 yards on 6 carries.

Next week the Oilers will travel to Orem, Utah to take on the Cobras, which now holds some intrigue, and the Nevada Warriors will regroup and travel to the Wyoming Outlaws.
