Uintah Basin Oilers-6, Idaho Mustangs-19
Saturday, April 2, 2016
Idaho Falls, MT- Raveston Stadium

It was a perfect afternoon for Opening Day of RMFL Football.  The Oilers came prepared for a game.

Unforeseen circumstances led to a delay in kickoff, but the enthusiasm of our hometown crowd held strong.

The Mustangs came out throwing and hit hard and fast.  Claiming the first score of the game.  The Mustang offense, led by returning Coach Bobby Beard and Rookie Quarterback Tristan Gilbert, took command.  Racking up 376 total yards of Offense, Tristan passed for 86 and ran for another 67.  Chet Bergeson rushed for 87 yards and Corey Walker also rushed for 80 yards, commanding respect from the Oiler defense.  Kenny Huffstedler and Matt Fisher both scored touchdowns on a Gilbert Passes.

The Mustang defense, led by returning Coach Mike Jensen, S Jullian Willis and LB Mike Daronch, made things difficult for the Oiler offense.   Deveon Reynolds led the defense with 4 tackles and 2 knockdowns, as well as a blocked kick.  Tyson Hoffman and Matt Fisher also had 4 tackles.

Next week, the Mustangs will travel to Logan, UT to meet the Stampede, expecting another strong defensive game in the Idaho Division opener and season opener for the Stampede.  The Oilers will be hosting the Nevada Warriors in Roosevelt, UT.
