The Utah Cobras continued their perfect season with another victory of over 40 points, this time against division rival Nevada Warriors. Utah remains in the race for the first seed of the playoffs along with the Great Falls Gladiators.
The Cobras started their day scoring on a 30-yard pass from back-up QB Andy Jones to WR Ladale Jackson. RB John Nyondweh found the endzone for the Cobras second touchdown from 2 yards out.
Utah’s defense joined the scoring spree, as LB Jeremy Covington broke through the Warriors line with pressure on QB Ely DeJesus, who then proceeded in delivering the ball to the turf. The play resulted in an intentional grounding penalty in the endzone to award the Cobras 2 points on the safety.
On the following scoring play, Jones would find TE Taylor Rechis from 34 yards out to increase the Cobras lead. The Cobras defense brought the next Warrior drive to a halt, which then setup another Cobra score before halftime. Nyondweh was responsible for the next Cobra points with his 2nd rushing score of the day and his 10th on the season as a result of a 5-yard scamper into the endzone.
With a running clock in the second half, the Cobras went back to work with two more scores to close the game. The first score came on a QB to QB connection between Jones and Brad Thurber from 18 yards out. On the last score, Jones would throw his 4th touchdown of the game, connecting with WR Brady Young from 13 yards out.
The Utah Cobras move to 7-0 on the season and the Nevada Warriors drop to 1-6. Utah will close the 2016 RMFL season in Lyman, Wyoming against the Wyoming Outlaws and the Warriors will host the Uintah Basin Oilers at Warriors Field in Elko, Nevada.
