The Trojans entered the game with two-straight road defeats.  Utah came into the game with a 90-12 victory over the Las Vegas Raiders at the Stars and Stripes Academy, as the league was able to form a team for the Raiders to compete even after their official forfeiture.

 

Utah received the ball to begin the game.  On the first play from scrimmage, Trojan defender Devierre Glenn stripped and recovered the loose ball.  The play resulted in a 40-yard returned for a touchdown by Glenn for the first score that would put the Trojans ahead 7-0.

 

The Trojans defense would proceed on the next drive to stop the Wildcats offense.  However, on the first possession of the game for Vegas, QB James Cammack would throw an interception Wildcat DB Austin Jacobson, who returned it 30 yards for the score.  After a failed extra point, the score remained 7-6 in favor of the Trojans.

In the beginning of the second quarter, Cammack engineered a successful drive for the Trojans offense.  The drive resulted in a 25-yard connection from Cammack to Gerryl Bennett for the score and a 13-6 lead.

 

On the ensuing drive, the Trojans defense showed strength and caused another turnover on the Wildcats offense as QB Justin Summers was stripped for the turnover recovered once again by the Trojans.  Despite the miscues on offense, the Wildcats defense was able to force the Trojans to attempt the field goal.  Trojan K Skyler Sandal successfully placed the 20-yard attempt through the uprights to increase the lead, 16-6.

 

The Wildcats answered the Trojan score before halftime, as Summers connected with WR Major Smith to make the score 16-12 at halftime.

 

The second half started with a quick score from the Trojans offense.  Cammack would connect with James Samuels for the 79 yard pitch-and-catch to put the Trojans up 23-12.  The Trojans defense held the Wildcats offense from producing another successful drive.  Vegas converted on the opportunity off the stop, as Trojans offense marched down the give for yet another score.  Cammack had his 3rd passing touchdown of the game, as he connected with Colin Mayer to finish the scoring at 30-12.

 

The Wildcats were a good, tough team,” said Bobby Lide, owner of the Vegas Trojans.  “But the Trojans defense proved why they are the top defense in the RMFL.”  The Utah Wildcats (3-4) will travel to St. George, UT for a showdown with the Zion Lions (5-2) to finish the regular season on June 4th.  The Vegas Trojans (5-2) will also travel for their final game, as they hit the road to Layton, UT to face the Davis Vipers (3-4) in their season finale on June 4th.
