The Logan Stampede started with the ball to begin the game.  After receiving the opening kickoff and a block in the back penalty, the Stampede started at the 5 yard line.  The Stampede went after a home run-type play from Marshall Hedin of Logan by receiving a 44-yard pass from QB Mike Jenkins.  They were unable to do much after that.

The Diggers defense forced a punt after the Stampede went three-and-out and took over on the Stampede 49. They began the drive with a 30-yard catch and run from Darren Terry resulting in a touchdown pass from A.J. Hunter to Luis Miramontes.

After another three-and-out from the Stampede, the Diggers offense marched down and capped off the drive with a two-yard run from Brogan Thoren.  Following the score, the Diggers offense didn’t do much on account of the Stampede defense.  They were effective in containing Hunter and applying pressure forcing him to find the short completions.

However, the Diggers managed to score on defense, as their next score came from Luis Miramontes on a 51-yard interception returned for a touchdown.  The Stampede kept the Diggers offense in check for most of the first half and were able to find the endzone for their first and only score of the game on a Brady Zimmerman to Jesse Yarger connection before the half.

The Stampede continued with containing the Digger offense for a few series to start the second half.  Logan executed a number of plays but the results were turnovers and three-and-outs.  The Diggers were provided another spark on offense from Gerriuh Nay, taking a handoff 71 yards for the touchdown.

Mini Cassia’s defense managed to prevent any points from the Stampede offense with Calvin Pruett and Tyler Adams leading with 5.5 tackles apiece and forcing 4 interceptions.  AJ Hunter finished the night going 12-of-18 for 100 yards and a touchdown.  Gerriuh Nay led the rushing efforts with his lone rush of 71 yards.  Hayden Thacker and Angel Anguiano led with 31 receiving yards, and Angel leading with 6 receptions.

Logan QB Brady Zimmerman led the passing game for the Stampede, completing 7 of 13 for 133 yards and the team’s only score.  WR Marshall Hedin led the receiving corps with 97 yards on 5 receptions.  RB Colby May led the Stampede rushing efforts with 42 yards on 9 carries.  LB Tanner Smith aided the Stampede defensive efforts with 5 tackles and 3 sacks on Hunter.

This week, the Logan Stampede will travel to Blackfoot, ID to face the Anarchy to continue their Idaho Division schedule.  The Mini Cassia Diggers will travel to Idaho Falls, ID to face the Idaho Mustangs.
