Saturday, April 2, 2016
Henderson, Nevada- Coronado High School Field

On Saturday, the Las Vegas Raiders, a new expansion team in 2016, played their first ever RMFL league game against the Utah Shock.  The young Raiders struggled all afternoon in making key mistakes on special teams on both sides of the ball.

The Shock were able to run at will most of the game, amassing multiple yards on the ground and taking advantage of the young Raiders defense. Raiders QB DeMonte Haynesworth completed 4 of 5 passes for 45 yards and an interception.  QB Tim Fisher completed 2 passes for 15 yards and had 4 interceptions on the day.  RB Nchong Enokenwa led the Raiders offense with 50 rushing yards on 5 carries and 49 receiving yards on 3 catches.

DE John Paul Gludt, a former Gallatin Valley Snow Devil, led the Raiders defense with 8 tackles and a sack.  Derrius Vallery also made an impact on the Raiders defense with 6 tackles, 4 tackles for loss, and 2 sacks.

Shock QB Jeff Wissler completed 10 of 16 passes for 132 yards and 3 touchdowns.  Wissler’s three targets were WR Sam Thomas, WR Graham Smith, and WR Kaleo Laita.  Thomas led the Shock receiving corps with 61 yards on 6 receptions and 2 touchdowns.  Smith caught 3 passes for 54 yards and a touchdown.  Laita had just one catch for 17 yards.  RBs IK Ubani and Matt Mann led the Shock backfield on the ground.  Ubani rushed for 112 yards on 11 carries and Mann had 39 yards on 7 carries.

Eli Laumua led the Shock defense with 4 tackles.  Benny Mafi had 2 tackles and recovered a Fano Tagovailoa forced fumble for the Shock touchdown.

This week, the Utah Shock host their first home game of the season in Kearns, UT as they face the Brigham Sting, who defeated the Zion Lions 10-7 Saturday night at the Sunbowl in St. George.  The Las Vegas Raiders will host another home game this Saturday against the Davis Vipers in Henderson, NV.
