04/02 GLADIATORS @ XTREME

Great Falls Gladiators-24, Billings Xtreme-7
Saturday, April 2, 2016
Billings, MT- Daylis Stadium

In what was touted as the Game of the Week, but didn’t fare too well for the Xtreme.  The Gladiators came in as the underdog but sure didn’t play like it.  In what started as a defensive battle, the Gladiators took the lead after a shanked punt that gave them great field position resulting in a field goal.  The Gladiators never looked back, and, after a very sloppy offensive day, the Gladiators would capitalize on many errors committed by the Xtreme.  Although the Xtreme would finally get on the board with a 30 yard pass from QB Shaun Sideris to a wide-open Ryan Frank that would be the only score for the Xtreme.

Sideris finished the game 10 of 23 for 120 yards and a touchdown.  RB Dedrick Bergen led the Xtreme backfield with 90 yards on 19 carries, as well as a 6 yard reception through the air.  John Jansen led as Sideris’ top receiver with 52 yards on 4 receptions.

Defensively, DL Robert Highsmith and CB Stephen Goodell led the Xtreme with 4 tackles.  LB Eddie Franke also had 2 interceptions on the day.

Next week, both the Gladiators and Xtreme have open weeks to rest up for their April 16th games.  Great Falls and Billings will both travel, as the Gladiators take the road to Boulder to face the Big Sky Avalanche and the Xtreme will face the Flathead Monsters most likely in Missoula.
